Pathe film clips on catching the dragon

For those who missed A/P Timothy Barnard’s entertaining and educational (who knew these two could co-exist!) presentation on catching the Komodo Dragons last night, here are the links to two of the clips he showed.

The first one is believed to be footage from Lord Moyne (Walter Edward Guiness)’s expedition to Komodo Island in 1935, accompanied by his mistress Lady Broughton, and Lady Churchill. As Prof Barnard mentioned last night, Lord Moyne had a ship, Rosaura, specially retrofitted to transport wild animals, and he made Southeast Asia his holiday home.
